Monica: I'm standing here backstage with Jason Pickman. Jason, you are quite the specimen, how did Cathul manage to find you?
Pickman: Oh geez... I've never really been good at speaking into a microphone. Umm... Well, I actually sought Cathul out.
Monica: Why would you do that?
Pickman: Lets just say I wasn't living up to the family name. I needed a muse for my artwork, and I heard rumors about Cathul and his cult. Massachusetts is a small state in more ways than just land mass. I took a sabbatical from my studies at Miskatonic University and traveled north to Innsmouth to find him.
Monica: And what did you find?
Pickman: I found Cath. Now, I'm not really at liberty to discuss what I saw, but Cathul showed me things that were out of this world, literally.
Monica: Okay, and what could you tell us about the man, Cathul. He's pretty reclusive. He's been here three or four seasons now and I've never managed to get an interview with him.
Pickman: Yeah Monica, you're right. Cathul likes to be the questioner, not the questioned. Cath as a man is very honest. I've never heard him lie. At the same time, I've never heard him tell the whole truth either. He expects that same level of honesty from everyone around him, and he will hold you to your word. Even if that word is merely implied.
Monica: So where is Cathul now? How does he prepare for this match.
Pickman: Cathul is in the boiler room right now, "Purging himself of weakness". It's a ritual self mutilation technique. He's burning himself on the hot water pipes.
Monica: Oh my god! That sounds horrific. How will he be ready for his match if he burns himself?
Pickman: Well, Cath isn't that far off when he says he's Purging himself of weakness. Medically speaking, his injuries release endorphins in his brain. Adrenaline and serotonin, natures own pain remedy. He enters his match high on these natural pain killers and uses them to overcome blows that would normally knock him out. It's disgusting, especially the smell, but it works for him.
Monica: I'm sure you need to go see to your friend, so let me ask one final question that's been burning in everyone's mind. What kind of a name is "Cathul"?
Pickman: Innsmouth is a port town that used to trade with some East Asian islands. The boats used to take on workers when it made port on those islands. The men came to Innsmouth and brought along their cultures, including some religion that became the basis for the Estoic order of Dagon that Cathul led. His name also came from their religion. Cathul's birth name however, is Lou.
Monica: Lou?
Pickman: What did you expect? He was born here in America.
Monica: And that's all the time I have, back to the action.... I think I can smell Cath burning...
